FAQ
What is Sonobond Pro?
Sonobond Pro is a professional solvent-based adhesive developed by SONOTIZ for the correct installation of acoustic and thermal insulation systems. It is designed to ensure full-surface contact, precise positioning and stable bonding of insulation materials before mechanical fixing.
What is Sonobond Pro used for?
Sonobond Pro is used for installing acoustic and thermal insulation materials, bonding SONOTIZ AT, ATA, Membrane and Block systems, and for interior applications in residential, commercial and technical projects. It is part of a system-based sound insulation approach, not a standalone solution.
Does Sonobond Pro reduce noise by itself?
No. Sonobond Pro is not a soundproofing material on its own. Its function is to eliminate uncontrolled air gaps, prevent acoustic bridges and stabilize insulation layers so that the acoustic system performs as designed.
Why is adhesive important in soundproofing systems?
Sound is transmitted through mechanical vibrations. Any gap, partial contact or loose zone becomes a vibration path that reduces real acoustic performance. Sonobond Pro ensures continuous contact between insulation and substrate, allowing vibration energy to be controlled and reducing performance losses that can reach 30–40% with incorrect installation.
Is Sonobond Pro suitable for DIY users?
Yes, when the technical instructions are followed correctly. For complex systems such as ceilings, partitions or multilayer constructions, professional installation is recommended to ensure predictable results.
Is Sonobond Pro safe for interior use?
Yes, when used according to the technical data sheet. It is intended for interior use only, within an application temperature range of +10 °C to +30 °C, with proper ventilation and basic personal protective equipment.
Does Sonobond Pro improve thermal insulation performance?
Indirectly, yes. By ensuring continuous contact and eliminating uncontrolled air gaps, Sonobond Pro helps maintain the designed thermal performance of insulation systems.
Why does SONOTIZ promote a system approach instead of single products?
Effective sound insulation depends on mass, decoupling, damping, continuity and correct installation. No single material can solve noise problems on its own. Sonobond Pro is engineered as a system component to ensure predictable, measured performance.
Can SONOTIZ supply Sonobond Pro internationally?
Yes. SONOTIZ supplies products across the EU and neighboring markets and works with international B2B and wholesale clients. For bulk orders or distribution inquiries, contact SONOTIZ directly.
Is mechanical fixing still required?
Yes. Mechanical fixing is always required. Sonobond Pro ensures positioning and full contact, while mechanical fixing guarantees long-term durability, structural safety and stable acoustic performance. Adhesive does not replace mechanical fastening.
Which materials are compatible with Sonobond Pro?
Sonobond Pro is specifically developed for use with SONOTIZ insulation materials, including AT, ATA, Block, and Membrane systems.
In addition, it is compatible with a wide range of rigid construction substrates commonly used in acoustic and thermal insulation applications.
Compatible materials include concrete and mineral substrates, gypsum board, metal surfaces such as steel and aluminum, wood-based panels including OSB and plywood, glass and ceramic surfaces, fibrous materials including fiberglass, and compatible bituminous membranes.
Sonobond Pro is intended for interior use on rigid, solvent-resistant surfaces where full-surface contact and stable bonding are required for correct system performance.
Which materials should NOT be used with Sonobond Pro?
Sonobond Pro must NOT be used on expanded or extruded polystyrene (EPS, XPS), solvent-sensitive plastics, uncured polyurethane foams, soft PVC, natural rubber, polyethylene, polypropylene or highly porous materials that absorb excessive solvent.
What is the recommended consumption?
The average consumption of Sonobond Pro is approximately 300 g per square meter (≈ 0.30 kg/m²).
This corresponds to approximately 0.06 lb per square foot (≈ 2.1 oz/ft²), depending on substrate type, surface roughness and application method. One 6 kg container covers up to 20 m² under standard conditions.
This is equivalent to approximately 215 square feet of coverage per container, or 13.2 lb net weight covering up to 215 ft².
How is Sonobond Pro applied?
The surface must be clean, dry and free of dust and grease. Adequate ventilation is required. The adhesive is applied evenly using a roller or spatula. Insulation material is placed immediately onto the fresh adhesive layer, adjusted for correct positioning and then mechanically fixed. Full-surface contact is essential for proper acoustic performance.
Can Sonobond Pro replace PU foam or expanding adhesives?
No. Expanding foams create rigid acoustic bridges and uncontrolled pressure, which makes them unsuitable for precision acoustic systems. Sonobond Pro is designed for controlled bonding, not gap filling.
Where can I buy Sonobond Pro?
Sonobond Pro is available through authorized SONOTIZ distributors. To find a supplier in your region, contact SONOTIZ via www.sonotiz.md or email [email protected]. The team will connect you with the nearest official partner or advise on direct supply.
Can I become a SONOTIZ distributor?
Yes. SONOTIZ is expanding its international partner network and offers technical documentation, system training and project support for distributors, contractors and system integrators.
Where can I get technical documentation?
SONOTIZ provides technical data sheets, installation guidelines and system recommendations upon request through official SONOTIZ channels.
Sonobond Pro is not a generic adhesive. It is a system component engineered to ensure predictable acoustic and thermal performance when installed correctly.
