SONOFOL PE B — Vibration-Damping Polyethylene Foam

Overview — SONOFOL PE B

SONOFOL PE B is a high-density polyethylene foam designed for vibration damping, thermal buffering, and moisture protection in construction, mechanical, and packaging applications. This version of the SONOFOL line is thicker and more robust than SONOFOL PE A and does not feature aluminum lamination — allowing for greater flexibility and mechanical cushioning. Part of a versatile product family, SONOFOL PE B is ideal for use in floors, technical spaces, mechanical systems, and as a supplementary layer in soundproofing assemblies.

Purpose

SONOFOL PE B offers excellent mechanical cushioning and dampening properties. It serves as a thermal and vibration insulation layer in both construction and industrial environments. The material is ideal where aluminum lamination is not required but additional thickness and shock absorption are beneficial.

Description

This closed-cell polyethylene foam sheet has a durable and flexible structure. It absorbs vibration, reduces resonance, and provides thermal and moisture protection. While not a primary sound insulator, it significantly improves the performance of layered assemblies, particularly when installed under flooring, in walls, or around machinery. SONOFOL PE B features a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that allows for rapid application on clean, dry surfaces — improving installation efficiency in both professional and DIY setups.

Key Advantages

  • Thick, resilient foam for vibration isolation
  • Excellent cushioning for structural and industrial use
  • Easy-to-apply with self-adhesive backing
  • Thermal resistance with low thermal conductivity
  • Water-resistant and long-lasting
  • Versatile usage: floors, walls, machinery, packaging

Applications

  • Vibration damping in floor underlays and drywall cavities
  • Thermal and moisture protection in mechanical spaces
  • Cushioning layer for technical panels and assemblies
  • Insulation for HVAC equipment and machinery
  • Packaging and protective lining for sensitive components
  • Additional backing for soundproofing systems

Installation Guidelines

1.

Prepare the substrate: it must be clean, dry, and flat.

2.

Cut the foam to size with scissors or utility knife.

3.

Peel off the adhesive liner.

4.

Apply directly to the surface, pressing evenly.

5.

Use in continuous strips or as layered panels depending on use.
