Overview — SONOFOL PE A

SONOFOL PE A is a closed-cell polyethylene foam laminated with a 9-micron aluminum foil on one side. It offers a lightweight, flexible, and effective solution for basic thermal insulation, vapor protection, and light acoustic enhancement. This product is part of the SONOFOL PE family, which includes three versions tailored to different performance needs:

  • PE A – Basic version with foil lamination
  • PE B – Thicker, non-laminated version for cushioning and vibration damping
  • PE C – High-performance version with reinforced foil and greater mechanical durability

SONOFOL PE A is suitable for HVAC systems, reflective wall and ceiling insulation, and residential or commercial upgrades that require fast installation and moderate insulation properties.

Purpose

SONOFOL PE A provides thermal protection, light sound insulation, and a moisture barrier for various applications. The aluminum surface reflects radiant heat, while the polyethylene foam adds cushioning and vibration resistance. It is ideal for HVAC pipe and duct insulation, wall cavities, and lightweight technical spaces.

Description

Manufactured from closed-cell EPE foam and laminated with a thin layer of aluminum foil, SONOFOL PE A is designed for ease of handling and installation. Its self-adhesive backing allows for direct application to clean, flat surfaces — speeding up installation without mechanical fasteners. The material’s structure ensures basic thermal and moisture resistance while contributing to reduced thermal bridging and improved climate comfort in indoor spaces. The aluminum surface adds reflectivity and contributes to thermal resistance without increasing thickness or weight.

Key Advantages

  • Lightweight and flexible for easy handling
  • Reflects radiant heat and reduces thermal bridging
  • Acts as vapor barrier and moisture protection
  • Self-adhesive for fast and tool-free installation
  • Ideal for tight spaces and technical zones
  • Cost-effective solution for basic insulation needs

Applications

  • HVAC pipe and duct insulation
  • Reflective insulation for walls and ceilings
  • Ventilation system lining
  • Vapor barrier in utility rooms, attics, and crawl spaces
  • Lightweight indoor insulation in residential and commercial buildings

Installation Guidelines

1.

Clean and dry the application surface.

2.

Cut material to desired dimensions using a utility knife or scissors.

3.

Peel protective film from adhesive backing.

4.

Press firmly into place, smoothing from the center outward.

5.

For continuous coverage, slightly overlap edges or seal with compatible tape.
