SONOFOL PE C — High-Strength Thermal & Vapor Barrier Foam

Overview — SONOFOL PE C
SONOFOL PE C is the highest-performance variant in the SONOFOL foam series. It is a closed-cell polyethylene foam laminated with reinforced aluminum foil, designed to serve as a powerful thermal and vapor barrier in HVAC, mechanical, and industrial applications. This version offers superior mechanical durability, moisture sealing, and thermal reflectivity compared to SONOFOL PE A and B — making it ideal for demanding technical environments where insulation integrity and resistance to wear are critical.
Purpose
SONOFOL PE C is engineered to provide combined protection against heat loss, vapor penetration, and mechanical stress. Its foil-laminated surface reflects radiant energy while maintaining a tight seal against moisture and air transmission. It is especially suitable for technical rooms, ventilation shafts, smoke extraction systems, and industrial piping where both thermal insulation and vapor control are required.
Description
Constructed from cross-linked EPE (expanded polyethylene) foam, SONOFOL PE C features a high-density core bonded with a robust aluminum foil layer. The foil adds rigidity and improves reflectivity, while the foam structure cushions and insulates. Its closed-cell nature ensures it does not absorb moisture, and the reinforced foil surface makes it resistant to tearing, cracking, and deformation even under pressure or temperature shifts. This foam is easy to cut and install and can be fixed using adhesives, mechanical fasteners, or pressure-sensitive tape depending on the surface.
Key Advantages
- High resistance to vapor, heat, and mechanical stress
- Stronger than SONOFOL PE A and B
- Reflective aluminum foil enhances thermal performance
- Acts as both insulation and vapor barrier
- Lightweight and easy to install
- Suitable for technical systems with strict performance demands
Applications
- Insulation and vapor sealing in HVAC systems
- Smoke extraction ducts and ventilation channels
- Technical and mechanical rooms in commercial/industrial buildings
- Piping and conduits with temperature fluctuations
- Internal wall/ceiling cavities in highly insulated areas
- Vapor barrier under floating floors or roof layers
Installation Instructions
1.
Measure the insulation area and cut material to fit.
2.
Apply directly onto clean and dry surfaces.
3.
Fix using adhesive spray, clips, or double-sided tape.
4.
Overlap joints for continuous vapor sealing; seal with ALU tape.
5.
Avoid compressing foam during application to maintain insulation value.
