Storage

SONOTIZ BLOCK panels must be stored in a dry, well-ventilated environment, protected from high humidity, condensation, or direct exposure to moisture. Therefore, they cannot be stored and installed in a room with high humidity.

Before installation, panels should be stored for at least 24 hours in the same environment where they will be installed. This acclimatization period allows the panels to adjust to ambient temperature and humidity, ensuring optimal sound insulation and dimensional stability.

To prevent warping or bending, panels must be stored and transported horizontally on a flat surface. By following these storage and handling guidelines, users can maintain the full performance, durability, and longevity of SONOTIZ BLOCK panels.

General Overview

SONOTIZ BLOCK is a high-density acoustic insulation panel engineered to deliver powerful soundproofing in a compact format.

Manufactured from wood fiber with a corrugated structure and filled with calcined quartz filler, it combines the essential acoustic principles of mass, elasticity, and multi-layer absorption. This combination of materials and design ensures effective damping of sound waves of various frequencies.

This innovative design makes SONOTIZ BLOCK ideal for walls, ceilings, and floors, providing effective reduction of airborne and impact noise in residential, commercial, and industrial spaces — without increasing wall thickness.

How It Works

SONOBLOCK’s performance is based on a triple-action structure:

1.

Mass: the quartz sand filler acts as a dense barrier, absorbing and dissipating sound wave energy.

2.

Elasticity: the flexible wood-fiber framework absorbs vibrations and prevents sound propagation.

3.

Multi-layer dissipation: alternating layers of different densities cause partial energy loss when sound waves pass between materials.

Installation of SONOTIZ BLOCK panels is simple and does not require special equipment:

1.

Surface preparation: clean, smooth, and fill all gaps and cracks

2.

Adhesion: apply foam adhesive uniformly without air pockets

3.

Sealing: use fire-rated silicone + adhesive tape at all joints

4.

Mechanical fixation: dowels for extra security

5.

Cutting: easy to trim with a utility knife, saw, or grinder optimal results, acclimate the panels in the installation area for at least 24 hours prior to mounting.

Important!

SONOTIZ BLOCK panels easily absorb moisture. Therefore, they cannot be stored and installed in a room with high humidity.

FAQ

SONOTIZ BLOCK is a high-performance multilayer acoustic insulation panel designed to reduce airborne noise, impact noise, and structure-borne vibrations in walls, ceilings, and floors.
It is engineered for situations where maximum sound insulation is required with minimal system thickness, making it especially suitable for apartments, offices, hotels, studios, modular constructions, and renovation projects.

SONOTIZ BLOCK addresses three main noise mechanisms:
1.  Airborne noise
(speech, TV, music, traffic, neighbors)
2.  Impact noise
(footsteps, dropped objects, mechanical impacts)
3.  Structural / vibration noise
(noise transmitted through building structures)
The panel works by combining mass, elasticity, and multilayer energy dissipation, which are fundamental principles of modern acoustic engineering.

SONOTIZ BLOCK is based on physical acoustic laws, not “sound absorption myths”.
Its performance relies on:
Mass effect
The calcined quartz core increases surface density, which resists sound wave transmission.
Elastic damping
The corrugated cellulose structure converts acoustic energy into mechanical losses.
Multilayer dissipation
Alternating materials with different densities and geometries progressively reduce sound energy across frequencies.
This combination allows effective noise reduction even at 12–18 mm thickness, which is impossible with traditional single-material solutions.

When installed as part of a complete wall system, SONOTIZ BLOCK achieves up to 58 dB airborne noise reduction, according to laboratory testing.
Important professional note:
Sound insulation values always depend on the entire system, not a single material. Performance is influenced by:

  • installation quality
  • supporting structures
  • flanking paths
  • sealing of joints

SONOTIZ provides system-based engineering solutions, not isolated product claims.

Yes. SONOTIZ BLOCK is suitable for both DIY users and professional installers, provided that installation guidelines are followed.
Key DIY-critical rules:

  • full-surface adhesive contact (no spot gluing)
  • airtight joint sealing
  • elimination of air gaps and sound bridges

Improper installation can reduce acoustic performance significantly, regardless of material quality.

Yes, professionals sometimes integrate SONOTIZ BLOCK into custom acoustic systems.
However, an important technical clarification:

  • Sonotiz performance recommendations apply only to systems officially developed and tested by the Sonotiz engineering team.

Custom combinations may work, but acoustic results cannot be guaranteed outside validated system designs.

From an engineering perspective, soundproofing fails due to:

  • air gaps and unsealed joints
  • rigid mechanical connections (sound bridges)
  • incorrect layer sequence
  • misunderstanding of noise type (airborne vs impact vs vibration)

SONOTIZ BLOCK is designed to be part of a system approach, not a “magic panel”.

SONOTIZ BLOCK is engineered for:

  • DIY users seeking professional-grade results
  • installers and contractors
  • acoustic consultants and architects
  • distributors and wholesale buyers

The product bridges the gap between scientific acoustics and real-world construction practice.

Yes, SONOTIZ BLOCK can be used:

  • as a standalone acoustic layer, or
  • as a core component of complete Sonotiz systems for walls, ceilings, and floors.

However, maximum and predictable acoustic performance is achieved in engineered system assemblies, where vibration control, mass distribution, and decoupling are properly managed.

BLOCK 12

The 18 mm version includes an EPE elastic backing layer, which:

  • compensates for uneven substrates
  • improves surface contact
  • reduces risk of air gaps

Yes — SONOTIZ BLOCK 18 is specifically designed for slightly uneven or irregular substrates, thanks to its elastic EPE backing layer.
For heavily damaged or unstable surfaces, substrate preparation is still mandatory.

Typical applications include:

  • apartments and residential buildings
  • offices and commercial spaces
  • hotels and hospitality projects
  • recording studios and conference rooms
  • modular and prefabricated constructions
  • renovation projects with limited wall thickness

SONOTIZ BLOCK is designed for indoor use only.

Yes. SONOTIZ BLOCK is:

  • binder-free
  • non-toxic
  • based on cellulose and mineral components

Part of the materials are produced using recycled and reused fiberglass, supporting circular production principles.

No. Modern acoustic engineering focuses on:

  • mass-to-performance ratio
  • damping efficiency
  • vibration control

SONOTIZ BLOCK delivers high acoustic performance at minimal thickness by combining these principles correctly.
